I hold Baby N in my lap and give thanks for each part of his body, usually starting with his toes. "Thank you for N's toes, tidy little peas in a pod and grippy like a frog. Thank you for N's feet, cool wedges of cheese and utterly kissable." And on up to, "Thank you for N's hair, sticky-outy and wispy soft."
This practice is especially helpful on the long nights when he won't settle down and I had other things in mind to do (like blogging, washing dishes, reading... or sleeping). It brings me into the moment with him. And it shows me anew the bright healthy baby I am thankful for.
