God is the madwoman in the attic.
I'm camped out on the threshold with my journal, camera, and plenty of snacks.

inside the lines

I'm coloring again. I get out my markers and coloring pages after Baby N goes to bed. We can hear him, awake & chattering to himself, for an hour... or two. I wait for him to fall asleep before I go to bed, but I'm drowsy & muddle-headed and frequently a little anxious. So I color.

The coloring calms me. The awake & chattering inside my head stills. My muscles relax. Clarity, like a beam of light through dusty air, shines in my mental musty attic. Maybe then there's a list or a sketch of a plan for the next day. And finally I too can go to bed.
